In late 1993, a skinny Brazilian kid named Royce Gracie walked into the Octagon and dominated every opponent who dared to step in front of him. Employing a method of self-defense known as Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, Gracie captured the hearts of the martial arts world.

Today, more than 14 years later, the popularity of mixed martial arts is raging out of control … and it extends light years beyond just the martial arts world. Fans of all ages are pouring through the turnstiles and filling up arenas that sometimes don’t sell out for professional hockey or basketball.

But that is merely the tip of the iceberg. MMA is on regular television; ratings for the UFC's weekly reality show, “The Ultimate Fighter,” which is on Spike TV, often shatter the television ratings of the NBA and Major League Baseball in the 24- 39-year-old male demographic; MMA organizations are flourishing and some fighters are signing contracts for millions of dollars.

In Elite Fighter, devoted to the lifestyle that is MMA, you’ll find out what these warriors are all about when they are not fighting. Be prepared as we take you to one elite fighter’s farm or plunge into the Pacific to go surfing with another champion or, if you dare, come along as another chases tornadoes.

Plus, we’ll take you into the realm of the MMA lifestyle with stories devoted to relationships, video games, music reviews, MMA parties and girls. This 100-page, full-color, fan-based magazine is on your newsstand now.The sport of mixed martial arts (MMA) is absolutely on fire. From Japan to Brazil to America, PPV numbers are skyrocketing, arenas are selling out and millions are tuning in to Spike to watch MMA on TV. And Ultimate Grappling magazine is on top of things.
