Orange, CA, November 14, 2005The Action Pursuit Group (APG), an operating company of Apprise Enthusiast Media LLC, today announced that it has promoted three top editors for its Romantic Homes and Victorian Homes titles, reflecting its increased focus on lifestyle magazines and the creation of the Home Style Group within APG.  The appointments are:  Jacqueline deMontravel to Editor of Romantic Homes, Merrie Destefano to Editor of Victorian Homes and Hillary Black to Executive Editor of Romantic Homes and Victorian Homes.

Craig Nickerson, CEO of APG, said that the promotions reflected APG’s commitment to the growth and editorial quality of the magazines.  “Jacqueline, Merrie and Hillary represent some of the best talent in lifestyle publishing today.  Romantic Homes and Victorian Homes are niche publications that target two distinct audiences,” he added.  “However, as a package they are a powerful set that reach passionate readers who aspire to reflect their personal style at home.  This new editorial team understands the passion of their readers, and will deliver an outstanding product that reflects that passion.”

deMontravel recently joined Romantic Homes and Victorian Homes magazines as Executive Editor.  She was formerly the Editor of Country magazine, a M. Shanken publication.  She has also held editor positions at Conde Nast's Self and GQ, and has also been a contributor to Hearst's Harper's Bazaar.  She is the author of four books including 21st Century Etiquette with Charlotte Ford and the chick lit series, The Fabulous Emily Briggs and Escape from Bridezilla.  She also worked on the launch of Oxygen Media’s style website and Lucky, creating the homes department.  deMontravel said, “As home and lifestyle have tremendous influence on today’s consumer, it is exciting to be a part of a magazine that taps into this zeitgeist.  Increasingly, creative homeowners view their homes as an ever-changing palette just as they would a seasonal wardrobe.  It’s an honor to be a part of a magazine with such a devoted following, and with this exciting team in place, we plan to broaden our coverage while also developing more theme-related issues.”

With 19 years’ publishing experience, Destefano worked for two years as the Senior Editor of Romantic Homes and Victorian Homes magazines.  She was previously the editor/publisher of The Word For Today, a multi-media broadcasting/publishing company.  Other magazine experience includes Brio, Breakaway, Clubhouse, Clubhouse Jr., Shooting Times, Crafts, Sew News, PCM, and Rotor & Wing magazines.  “We’re all very excited about taking our publications to the next level, providing our readers with beautiful home décor ideas,” Destefano said.  “Renovation and restoration will figure prominently in future issues of Victorian Homes.  We also have plans to do a special issue in 2006 or 2007, expanding our traditional six issues per year to seven. Other things on the horizon include developing a line of books, based on reader-favorite themes.”

Black had been photo/style editor at Romantic Homes and Victorian Homes magazines.  She brings 20 years of creative experience to her new role, with a background in theater, as well as work in film and television production for companies including Paramount Pictures, ABC and CBS.  In her capacity as Executive Editor, Black will continue to drive the high photographic quality and style of both magazines as she has for the past two years, while taking on new responsibilities to help grow the publications.  “I look forward to supporting Jacqueline and Merrie in reaching their vision for their publications,” Black said.

Previous Editor Erika Kotite will continue to offer her expertise for both publications as Editor-At-Large.  “Having Jacqueline and Merrie at the helm of Romantic Homes and Victorian Homes means these outstanding titles are going to the next level of excellence," Kotite says.  “I can't wait to see what the team, along with Hillary and Managing Editor Rebecca Razo, will do in upcoming issues, and I plan to be working right alongside them.”
